Born in Indonesia, raised in Taiwan and trained in the United States, Keng Kim-Yung is a second-generation Southeast Asian Taiwanese, or the so-called “new Taiwanese”, of the island country. He is a PhD candidate in both development studies (National Chengchi University, Taiwan) and sociology (University of Hawaii, USA). His dissertation topic and current research focus is on the social perception and educational disadvantage of Southeast Asians immigrant children in Taiwan.
