Leung, Wing Fai is Lecturer in Contemporary Chinese Studies and Head of the Department of Asian Studies, University College Cork, Ireland. After graduating from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London, she held a postdoctoral position at Chinese Culture and Society, University of St Gallen, Switzerland. Dr Leung recently published her monograph Multimedia Stardom in Hong Kong: Image, Performance and Identity and has co-edited two books on East Asian films and film stars. She has published peer-reviewed articles in many journals, including Sociological Review, Asian Ethnicity and Journal of Chinese Cinemas, covering subjects from the discursive constructions of mixed heritage in Chinese language Internet, to work and employment in the cultural and creative industry. She was awarded Taiwan Fellowship in 2014 and conducted fieldwork investigating the high-tech startup eco-system in Taiwan, based at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, Taipei. She has continued this research project, which focuses on social network, relationships with the traditional high-tech sector, cultural and social capital and gender disparity within this sector.
