Jia-Shin Tsai is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica. He received his Ph.D. from the Institute of Sociology at National Tsing Hua University. His dissertation examines how civic actors work on capitalism in urban and rural Taiwan, based on the cases of urban reform initiatives (including protest against unreasonable housing price, tenant services, and community architecture actions), and emerging rural solidarity initiatives in Puli township since 2010s. He seeks to further develop the studied cases and findings in his dissertation from the perspectives of lifestyle politics, politics of dwelling, and community organizing.
