Biography

Shih Chih-Yu has coached inter-mural basketball in Taiwan for 18 years, with 10 national titles under his belt. He prefers to play someone slower and shorter, though. He loves German sausages, admires Bavarian castles and is an aficionado for Tubingen ice cream. Being a night owl who keeps late hours, he lives on Internet while in the dark. Saturday Gathering on Chinese Affairs held weekly in his apartment enters the 23rd year in 2014. Professionally, he is currently teaching cultural studies and China studies in the Department of Political Science at National Taiwan University. He is additionally the author of many books including Harmonious Intervention (2014), Sinicizing International Relations (2013), Civilization, Nation and Modernity in East Asia (2014), and many others, Editor of the journal Asian Ethnicity and an editorial board member of a few international and domestic political science as well as China studies journals. He is MPP of Harvard University and Ph. D of the University of Denver. In 2005, he visited Durham University for two weeks.
