The Baden-Württemberg Center for Brazil and LatinAmerica emerged in July 2022 from the Baden Württembergischen Brasilien-Zentrum, which coordinated cooperation with a wide variety of Brazilian universities for over 20 years. The new, regionally expanded center is particularly dedicated to diversifying and intensifying research cooperation with Latin America and to building a Latin American academic network consisting of the University of Tübingen's partners.
The new center brings its expertise from decades of cooperation with Brazil, carried out on behalf of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (MWK) and the University of Tübingen. The center offers advice and supervision for research projects and organizes exchanges and events in various fields, including the German-Brazilian Symposium for Sustainable Development every two years.
The main focus of the center's work, however, is the implementation of its own projects and programs that strengthen research cooperation with Latin America. By participating in international events and appearances in Latin America, the Center reinforces the University of Tübingen’s presence in the region.
