Flow in urban area

The Innovations und Qualitätfonds (IQF) project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts of Baden-Württemberg to investigate the potential of renewable energy at the university and hospital sites in Tübingen. Current project partners are the TBA and the geography & geoinformatics from the university of Tübingen. Among the different kind of renewable energy, the wind energy is studied in order to evaluate the potential from small wind turbine and identify optimal locations for turbine installation. This project focus on one area, called Morgenstelle, where the average wind speed is estimated to be the highest among university buildings.

The project combines a full-scale experiment and a numerical study using computational fluid dynamic CFD models.
