Research

Automated driving is an extremely diversified topic which brings various tasks to be researched and solved. My doctoral thesis is carried out at Mercedes-Benz R&D in Sindelfingen (Germany) which is embedded in a BMWi (German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy) collaboration project. Novel spatiotemporal traffic phenomena based on empirical traffic data are identified, quantified and analyzed in detail. Several traffic data sources are used to reconstruct and understand real traffic: floating car data from a connected vehicle fleet, drone data and induction loop detectors.

Previously, I studied Mathematics (B.Sc. and M.Sc.) at the University of Tübingen with specialization in numerical mathematics. I worked at Mercedes-Benz in Böblingen (Germany) and Sunnyvale (California) for 2 years, both in the autonomous driving department.

Traffic data analysis based on a connected vehicle fleet for automated vehicles, e.g., floating car data, drone data and induction loop detectors. Investigations of time headways between consecutive vehicles for lane changing and merging maneuvers. Infrastructure based dynamic route clearance and information for highly and full automated Driving. Programming, Mathematics, Data Analysis, Traffic Theories, Automated Driving.

 

Research Project

MEC-View project: Mobile Edge Computing Based Object Detection for Automated Driving. The project pursues the objective of automated driving in complex urban traffic scenarios, e.g., automatically entering a priority road. By this, MEC-View strives for a safer and more efficient automated driving in urban traffic. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).
