Institute of Political Science

International

The Institute of Political Science in Tübingen strives to promote international study and exchange though its partnerships with foreign universities and scholars.  Our belief is that students and faculty alike benefit from exposure to a variety of worldviews and experiences which challenge both students and staff to critically develop and reflect on their own beliefs and opinions.

Guest Professors

The institute often hosts guest professors.  Most recently the institute played host to Steven Heydemann, now a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Andreas Schedler, Professor of Political Science at the Social Science Research Center CIDE in Mexico City.

Teach@Tuebingen

Guest lecturers from the Teach@Tübingen programme are always on hand, for example Dennis R. Schmidt, now Lecturer in International Relations at Swansea University or Dr. Peter Forman, University of Durham.

Philip Gater-Smith is currently a guest of the Institute in WS 2019/20 and SS 2020.

Teaching Program

An ever increasing number of courses of the teaching program are held in English. These include seminars such as the "Analysis of selected policy areas" or the "Introduction into International Relations", which are offered entirely in English.

Study Programs

The Master's programmes "Comparative & Middle East Politics and Society" (CMEPS), offered in cooperation with the American University in Cairo (AUC) and "Master of Public Policy and Social Change" are taught entirely in English.

Exchange Relationships

In addition to those foreign students who are regularly enrolled at the University of Tübingen, we maintain intensive exchange relations with foreign universities. These exchange programs are facilitated by both the European Erasmus program, and bilateral agreements between the University of Tübingen and other universities around the globe.
