Corporations

The Ludwig Uhland Institute (LUI) has been the source of influential ideas regarding research on the world of business by scholars in the field of Cultural Studies – notable in this regard is the ethnography of the corporate world initiated by Bernd Jürgen Warneken. These studies are still being carried on at the present at LUI, and they are the Institute’s particular contribution towards the understanding of Baden-Württemberg as a state characterized by industry. Thus, in recent years there have been a number of projects at LUI involving research on companies from the perspective of Cultural Studies – for example, in 2009-2010, the study project entitled “Abfahren. Ankommen. Boschler sein” (“Taking off. Arriving. The life of a Bosch employee”). In the meantime, increasing attention is being paid to issues concerning diversity management in organizations and companies.
