Evolution of the Badenian and Sarmatian small mammal faunas in Romania and Hungary
Miocene small mammals were until recently poorly documented in Romania and Hungary. Thank intensive sampling effort, rich micromammal faunal successions are or will be available for these countries. Their study is of first importance for the understanding of the faunal evolution, biostratigraphical and paleobiogeographical relationships at the end of the Middle Miocene in Europe.
