Schedule

Study in English, make friends & learn German at one of Germany's best universities while enjoying winter in the snow here in beautiful Tübingen! Do not just learn about European societies - experience Europe up close on two different Study Tracks. Class sessions are highly interactive, intercultural and combine both traditional and innovative teaching styles, including field trips and field research conducted by you, the participants, yourselves. Visit Tübingen's brand new Cyber Valley, discuss the latest developments in A.I. research and what role ethics should play therein, or meet with representatives of various civil society organizations who offer insights into how their activities help build stronger community TIES.

The program comprises subject courses, a German language course (A1-A2) and intercultural workshop. Students can choose between two Study Tracks.

Subject courses

  • Track (A) "Of Values and Virtues: Europe, Diversity, and the Question of Identity"
  • Track (B) "Representing the European Past: Memory and Place-Making in Cross-Cultural Communities"

Language and culture

  • No German? No problem!
  • German language courses on the profienciency levels A1-A2
  • Intercultural workshop

Admission

The courses are designed for undergraduate students from all academic disciplines with a strong general interest in cultures, Europe and Germany in particular.

A very good command of English and the willingness to actively participate during course activities are required.

Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Max. participants: 48 (max. 24 participants per Study Track)

Please note: Participants in the Winter School will not be enrolled as students of the University of Tübingen.

Social Program

The social program includes cultural activities as well as social gatherings such as an intercultural evening, bowling and making pretzels.

You will get the chance to experience German culture, explore Tübingen and its surroundings (Trip to monastery Bebenhausen) - a perfect chance get to know your classmates and buddies better and have fun together.

Participation in the activities is optional and you can register during the first week of the program.

Buddy Program

To support you during your stay in Tübingen and to promote an intercultural exchange we have set up a Buddy Program in which a student of the University of Tübingen teams up with an T-IES participant. You will have the chance to get to know German student life first-hand and to make many new friends. Your buddy will introduce you to student life in Tübingen and together you can also take part in events offered by the T-IES Program.Click on the link for more information! Buddy Program
