Yunfeng He is both an associate professor in Liaoning University in China and a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Tuebingen. Her research currently focuses on the individual differences in elementary numerical processing and its links with their mathematical ability. In particular, Yunfeng He investigated the relationship between Approximate Number System and mathematical ability and the underlying mechanism of this association; she also explored the individual differences in the SNARC (Spatial-Numerical Association of Response Codes) effect, numerical Stroop effect and compatibility effect in intellectually gifted children.Yunfeng He tries to answer these questions: Why are there individual differences in mathematical ability? Do the differences arise from general cognitive ability or specific abilities, such as various elementary numerical processings? Or is it actually from non-cognitive factors, such as math anxiety? And which specific factor plays a more important role? How can we extend our scientific research results into practice to guide educational intervention? Yunfeng He prefers Open Science.
