Institute of Evolution and Ecology (EvE)

Meeting StEvE 2019

Friday 06 December

This year’s annual symposium of students in ecology and evolution (Meeting StEvE) will take place on Friday, December 6, 2019. This meeting is an avenue for PhD students of the EVEREST graduate school to present and discuss their work through a series of oral and poster sessions. Advanced MSc students and young PostDocs from EVEREST member groups are also welcome to present their work.
The meeting is open to all interested students (any level) and faculty, including those beyond EVEREST member groups

Registration (8:15–9:00): Alte Aula, University of Tübingen, Münzgasse 30
Conference (9:00–18:00): Alte Aula, University of Tübingen, Münzgasse 30
Get-together (18:30-22:00): Prinz Karl Mensa, Hafengasse 6.

Meeting StEvE will comprise a keynote lecture, contributed oral presentations, a poster session, and a conference dinner. Please check the detailed Meeting Program.

Keynote lecture

This year’s keynote speaker will be Professor Mike Bruford, who is the co-director of the Sustainable Places Research Institute (Cardiff University, United Kingdom). His research specializes on evolutionary processes affecting populations, species and ecosystems of conservation concern. His talk is part of the Hilgendorf Lecture series.

There is no fee for registration. Yet, all participants (presenters and audience) should register by November 3, 2019.

Abstract submission

All contributors (poster or oral) need to first register as a “participant”, and then submit their abstract through the same online system by November 3, 2019. Please provide your contribution's Title, Author(s), Affiliation(s), and Abstract (300 words maximum).
Posters should be A0 format (vertical), and will be presented during a dedicated poster session with snacks and drinks. Oral contributions are 15 min, followed by 5 minutes of discussion. Presentations will be run from a central Windows PC. They can be contributed as PowerPoint (pptx) or PDF files – the latter avoids compatibility problems and is therefore recommended, in particular for Mac-users.

Meeting Poster

To promote the event, all research groups are urged to print and post the meeting poster on their advertising board.

Organizing team

This year’s StEvE meeting is organized by the Comparative Zoology group: Nicole Riethmüller, Julia Geue, Henri Thomassen and Katharina Foerster.
