Research Line 1: Sports development

Research on sports development deals with the changes in sport, physical activity and physicality in modern society. On the one hand, analyses focus on social megatrends such as individualization, mediatization and digitalization, and their impact on mass sport and young elite sports. In this context, the development of eSports is also a research topic. On the other hand, the transformation of sports organizations is examined. Thereby, the research projects analyze the ability of voluntary organizations, for example with regard to full-time occupations or sport and activity programs.
