Tübingen School of Education (TüSE)

About the Tübingen School of Education (TüSE)

In a short time, teacher education at the University of Tübingen has changed considerably in terms of content, structure and personnel. Until 2015, the Center for Teacher Education and the Working Group Teacher Education were the two structurally anchored institutions for teacher education at the University of Tübingen. In October 2015, the Center for Teacher Education, which had one staff position and was thematically limited to teaching and learning, was dissolved and replaced by the Tübingen School of Education as a central inter-faculty institution.

This was accompanied by an expansion of the content to seven fields of work (Study and Teaching/Student Advising; Professionalism; Research; Promotion of Young Researchers; Inclusion, Diversity and Heterogeneity; Internationalization; Digitalization in Teacher Education), a new committee structure, and a considerable increase in personnel (18 new professorships for teacher education, 8 new academic council positions) as well as additional staff positions.

The reconstitution of teacher education at the Tübingen School of Education is oriented towards the guiding principles recognized university-wide: „Research – Relevance – Responsibility.“ These guiding principles radiate into all the TüSE’s fields of work and are thus essential to its mission statement:

„Advancing teacher education - based on Research, Relevance and Responsibility“

Moving to our own building at Wilhelmstraße 31 has provided an integrative spatial solution, with “short distances” and clear “place making” for all students and actors in teacher education at the University of Tübingen.
