Research Areas

High-Throughput Methods

The University Hospital and the University of Tübingen possess several institutions as well as highly innovative core facilities offering the required technologies to generate high-throughput data with the mandatory quality. This includes whole genome sequencing (WGS), expression analysis of genomes, epigenetic analysis, proteomics, and metabolomics. Within this department we want to achieve a standardized procedure to generate the high-throughput data, the improvement of technologies to obtain these data and the guarantee for data security. Complex Diagnostics

Use of high-throughput data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, etc.) for diagnostic purposes requires initial bioinformatics processing and subsequent statistical analysis. The Quantitative Biology Center (QBiC) plays a central role in processing and allocation of the high-throughput data for further analysis. The department Complex Diagnostics establishes new bioinformatical procedures inevitable for integrated data analysis, supports the other departments with analysis of their high-throughput data and designs new methods for interactive visualization of these complex data sets. Functional and Molecular Imaging

Utilization of high-throughput data (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, etc.) requires the bioinformatical analysis. The Quantitative Biology Center (QBiC) plays a central role in processing and allocation of the high-throughput data for further analysis. The department “Complex Diagnostics” establishes new bioinformatical procedures inevitable for integrated data analysis, supports the other departments with analysis of their high-throughput data and designs new methods for interactive visualization of these complex data sets. Therapy Design

The increasing knowledge of the pathophysiology of complex diseases demands new and target-oriented treatments for steadily decreasing treatment sub-groups. The department of Therapy Design integrates methods from functional genomic approaches as well as virtual screening methods using pharmacological and medical/chemical technologies for drug development. More...

Experimental Therapy

The integration of high-throughput methods and functional imaging into the clinical routines, especially into translational trials, is the overall goal of the Center of Personalised Medicine. The department Experimental Therapy wants to achieve this by establishing and implementing new database infrastructure that allows the integration and electronic access of structured clinical data sets. The department wants to verify new and innovative concepts of treatment and to translate them into clinical trials in minimum time. More...
