Baden-Württemberg Center for Brazil and Latin America

The Brazilian Center supervises and organizes exchange programs and research projects between the German state of Baden-Württemberg and Brazil. It also networks with chambers of commerce and industry, as well as chambers of craftsmanship, of both countries.

Established in 2000 on behalf of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, the Brazilian Center is active in all universities and faculties of Baden-Württemberg.

In the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, the Brazilian Center co-supervises the base of the University of Tübingen at the PUCRS campus in Porto Alegre and the research station Pró-Mata, in an Araucaria forest protected area.

The Brazilian Center additionally organizes the biennial Brazil-Germany Symposium on Sustainable Development, a successful platform used for Brazilian and German scientists to discuss current environmental issues. Since 2003, these symposia have been alternately taking place in Baden-Württemberg and Brazil. The next symposium will take place at the University of Hohenheim, Germany, from 15 to 17 September 2019.
