Center for Interdisciplinary and Intercultural Studies

CIIS

The Center for Interdisciplinary and Intercultural Studies (CIIS) is a central institution of the University of Tuebingen that promotes the dialogue between the sciences and the humanities in research and teaching. It is supported by a Scientific Advisory Board in which the faculties are represented.

The CIIS was founded in 2006 under the original name of Forum Scientiarum with the support of the Udo Keller Foundation Forum Humanum, the Klett foundation and the Protestant Regional Church of Wuerttemberg. The Protestant Regional Church of Wuerttemberg is no longer involved in the activity of CIIS since 2019. The CIIS is located in the house of studies of the Udo Keller Foundation Humanum forum at the University of Tuebingen.

The CIIS is a place where the sciences and the humanities come together to work on various issues across subjects and to reflect on their relationship to each other as well as on their own fundamentals.
