Prof. Dr. Niels Henrik Gregersen (b. 1956) obtained his Ph.D. from Copenhagen University in 1987. He was Research Professor in Theology & Science at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, and is since 2004 Professor and Chair of Systematic Theology at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. From 1992 to 2003, he has been a leader of the Danish Science-Theology Forum.
From 1998 to 2002, he was Vice-President of The European Society for the Study of Science and Theology (ESSSAT) and responsible for its publication program. In 2002, he was elected president of The Learned Society, Denmark, and he served as its president in 2002 and 2003. Since 2003 he has served as chair-person of The Ecumenical Institute in Strasbourg, France, and as member of the Council of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF).
He is author of four books, and has edited a dozen volumes in the field of contemporary theology, and in science & religion. His more recent publications include "Theology in an Evolutionary Perspective" (Curtea Veche, 2007, in Romanian), The Gift of Grace (Fortress Press, 2005), From Complexity to Life: On the Emergence of Life and Meaning (Oxford University Press, 2003).
He was associate editor of the Encyclopedia of Science and Religion volumes I-II (MacMillan Reference 2003) and is Editor in-Chief of Dansk Teologisk Tidsskrift [Danish Journal of Theology].
