Tübingen School of Education (TüSE)

About the Tübingen School of Education (TüSE)

The content, structure, and personell of the teacher education program at the University of Tübingen has changed substantially in a short amount of time. Until 2015, the Centre for Teacher Education and the Teacher Education Working Group were the University of Tübingen´s two facilities in teacher education. In October 2015, the Center for Teacher Education (thematically restricted to academic studies and teaching) was dissolved and replaced by the Tübingen School of Education as the central overarching facility at the University.

This transition was accompanied by the expansion of six departments (Academic Study and Teaching / Student Advising; The Teaching Profession; Research; Training and Development; Inclusion, Diversity and Homogeneity; Internationalization), a new organizational structure, and a considerable increase in staff (18 new professors in Teacher Education, 8 new tenured lecturer positions) and other employees.

The new and improved Teacher Education department at the Tübingen School of Education is oriented towards the guiding principles recognized university-wide: „Research – Relevance – Responsibility.“ These key concepts permeate every department of the Tübingen School of Education and are thus essential to TüSE´s mission statement:

„Wir bringen Lehrerbildung voran – forschungsbasiert, anwendungsbezogen und verantwortungsbewusst“

The move to our own building at Wilhelmsstraße 31 has provided an interactive solution – a readily-accessible area which all students and employees in the Teacher Education department at the University of Tübingen can make their own.
