University Library

New Access Management System from 19th October 2020

Traffic lights replace the booking system

The University Library simplifies its access management

From Monday, October 19, 2020, it will again be possible to enter the University Library without prior reservation.

The new traffic light system will determine the number of people entering the building and at the same time record the contact details of visitors. To do this, card terminals have been set up at the entrances. When entering and leaving the building, your university ID card or library card must be placed on these terminals. When the traffic lights are green and yellow, you can enter the library; when the lights are red, please wait a short time until a seat becomes available again. The current access status can be checked in advance online from the comfort of your home or while travelling.

Access is only possible for users with a university chip card or a University Library card. Access without a card is unfortunately not possible. External users can apply for a library card by e-mail.

A direct result of this new system is that the library will no longer have to be cleared twice per day. The library can therefore be used without interruption during opening times (Mon-Fri 8:30 to 22:00 and Sat & Sun 10 to 18:00).
