PD Dr. Jana Groß Ophoff


Jana Groß Ophoff studied Psychology at the Free University Berlin and the Albert Ludwigs-University, Freiburg. She then worked as research assistant in the project Vergleichsarbeiten in der Grundschule (VERA: Mandatory Performance Tests in German Primary Schools) at the University Koblenz Landau, where she graduated in 2011 (Doctoral thesis: Teachers’ reflection and use of students’ performance feedback). At the University of Education, Freiburg, she committed herself to the assessment of Research Literacy of Educational Science students in the project Learning the Science of Education (LeSCEd), which was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. From April 2019 to January 2021 she worked as research assistant at the Chair Research on Teachers and Teacher Education with special emphasis on Subject Didactics (Prof. Dr. Colin Cramer). Since February 2021 she works as university professor for Educational Sciences at the University College of Teacher Education Vorarlberg (Pädagogische Hochschule Vorarlberg).

Research interests:

  • Influencing factors on the acquisition of knowledge and competencies in school, lesson and professional development
  • Measurement and modeling of competencies in school and higher education
  • Research-based professionalization in teacher education and further training (a.o. Educational Research Literacy)
  • Reception and use of data-based feedback (e.g. from mandatory performance tests)
