Institute of Historical and Cultural Anthropology

Large slides

The large slide collection was largely created in the 1930s and was mainly used for visual support during lectures inside and outside the institute. It is based on the traditional canon of themes (carnival, customs, traditional costumes, etc.), but should always be viewed in the light of the Nazi-influenced collection intention and practice of the Institute at the time. The slides were mainly purchased from the well-known picture agencies E. A. Seemann in Leipzig and Dr. Franz Stoedtner in Berlin.
