On this page, you will find information on applying to our degree programs. The Institute of Sociology offers a six-semester Bachelor’s program in Sociology and, building on that, a four-semester Master’s program in Sociology with a Specialization in Empirical Social Research. In the Bachelor’s program Sociology can be studied as a minor subject. In the 2018 summer semester, our department had 335 BA majors and 130 BA minor students as well as 56 Master's students.
Please note: Applications for all degree programs must always be sent to the Student Administration , not the Department of Sociology. The links below will take you to the Student Administration’s online application pages. Both the BA and the MA programs start in the winter semester.
The application deadline for the BA programme is 15 July, for the MA programme it will (presumably) be brought forward to 15 June.

The selection test for the Bachelor’s program in Sociology will presumably only apply for Sociology as a main subject. More detailed information on the selection test for the winter semester 2019/20 will be published here in due course. The test will in all likelihood take place in mid-July. Basic information on the selection test can be found on the page "Application for the Bachelor's program".
