Bachelor of Sociology
Sociology can be studied both as a major and a minor subject.
The application/registration for the 1st semester is only possible for the winter semester.
Sociology as a major subject is admission-restricted – up to 88 students can start studying the BA major each year. The minor subject sociology is admission-free.
The standard period of study is 6 semesters.
The Bachelor's program in Sociology focuses on the teaching of scientifically sound qualifications related to professional fields. This takes into account that there is a need for sociologically qualified graduates in numerous professional fields – such as market research, public relations, human resources management, social planning, journalism or consulting – without the requirements having crystallized into a fixed professional profile so far. The orientation towards professional qualification of the BA is underlined by a mandatory internship.
The special profile of Tübingen's Sociology programs lies in the combination of a broad education in qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical research with the teaching of sound theoretical knowledge.
Sociology can be studied as a Bachelor's minor subject if the Bachelor's major subject includes a minor of 60 ECTS.
Detailed information on the course of study can be found in the module handbook of the BA program in Sociology.
