Who is authorised for which examination?
With regard to the question of examination entitlement, a distinction must be made between courses of study and types of examination. In principle, the group of entitled examiners is defined in the respective examination regulations (the examination regulations can be found online under the respective study programmes).
For examinations, the topics are always set by the examiners themselves. The fact that, as a rule, the thematic framework is defined in advance with the candidates does not mean that students are free to choose their topics or that each examiner would have to examine each topic.
Bachelor's program: |
The examinations of the bachelor's program are all designed to accompany the studies, including the BA thesis. This expands the circle of examiners to include the academic staff employed at the department. It should be noted that the examinations, including the BA thesis, are generally held in connection with a course and are approved by the lecturer of the course if he or she is entitled to take the examination. In the case of lecturers, a member of the department responsible for the subject area takes the examination after consultation. |
Master's programme: |
The same applies to all accompanying examinations in the master's program as to the bachelor's examinations. In contrast to the bachelor's degree, the master's final examination does not accompany the course of study. |
