Inspiring talk and workshop at Uni Tübingen

Prof. Dr. Uschi Backes-Gellner speaks at the Fachbereichskolloqium

This week, we had the immense pleasure of hosting Prof. Dr. Uschi Backes-Gellner from the University of Zürich in our Fachbereichskolloquium. At the same time, her talk represented the Science talk of the "Science & Career Talk Series" at Uni Tübingen.

In her insightful lecture, Prof. Backes-Gellner talked about how to explain and potentially also counter gendered occupational choices, highlighting that and how they matter in terms of affecting labor market and innovation outcomes.

The lively discussion during the talk demonstrated how deeply these topics resonate with everyone. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn from the expertise of a researcher who has been shaping this field for years.

Equally valuable and representing the Career Talk of the Science & Career Talk Series at Eberhard Karls University Tübingen was the Career Workshop for Female (Early-)Career Researchers held the following day. In a supportive environment and protected space, participants from different career levels (Master students, PhDs and PostDocs) had the chance to ask career-related questions - about publishing, promotion, work-family balance, or how to deal with self-doubt or structural challenges. Prof. Backes-Gellner shared her experiences candidly, offered perspective, and opened up spaces for honest discussion. This exchange was not only inspiring but also a real boost for the next generation of women in science!

A huge thank you to Dr. Backes-Gellner for her time and insights! And a big shoutout to everyone who contributed to the success of these events – it was truly enriching!
