Evelin Dierauff, Dr. des.

Evelin Dierauff is a Research Fellow at the Department of Oriental and Islamic Studies at Tuebingen University and associated with Transottomanica, a Priority Programme (Schwerpunktprogramm) funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG 1981) that explores “transottoman” mobility practices between the Ottoman Empire, Russia, Poland-Lithuania and Persia from the 16th to the early 20th century.

From 2014-18 she taught at the Department of Oriental and Islamic Studies where she received her PhD in Islamic Studies in April 2018. (Title: "Negotiating Ethno-Confessional Relations in Late Ottoman Palestine: Debates in the Arab Palestinian Newspaper Filasṭīn (1911-1914)").

Before coming to Tuebingen, she taught Arabic language and translation courses at the Institute of Oriental Studies at Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg and was associated with the Orient-Institut-Beirut in a project on “Political Thought in Classical Islamic Literature.” She studied Arabic Literature as well as Islamic and Jewish Studies at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and Birzeit University/Palestinian Authorities.
