Sijeong Lim is an associate professor in the Division of International Studies at Korea University (2018-), and a visiting professor at the Center for Korean Studies at the University of Tübingen for the summer semester of 2025. She received her Ph.D. in political science from the University of Washington, Seattle (2013) and previously worked at Stockholm University (2013-2015) and the University of Amsterdam (2015-2018) before joining the faculty at Korea University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of international political economy and comparative politics, exploring how and why common structural changes such as climate change, hyper-globalization, and technological advances elicit different domestic responses from governments and societies around the world. She is particularly interested in how environmental and climate challenges interact with redistributive policies and welfare state institutions to shape state and public responses. At the University of Tübingen, she teaches a master's seminar entitled South Korea and the SDGs: A Comparative Perspective.
