Aim of the study

For my bachelor’s thesis, which is part of the pHION project, I will investigate the effects of fluoxetine and clofibric acid on the development of zebrafish embryos. Ultimately, the pHION project aims to develop models that estimate the toxicity of different ionisable substances for different pH values.
Clofibric acid is an herbicide, which acts as a plant growth regulator by downregulating the plant hormone auxin. Fluoxetine is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class. It is used for the treatment of major depressive disorder, obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), bulimia nervosa and panic disorder.
To investigate the toxicity of these substances at different pH levels, the fish embryo test is carried out with the model organism Danio rerio.
