Therapsid Hall

The development of mammals began in the late Paleozoic.

The group of reptiles called Therapsids shows some evolutionary adaptations, which are considered today as typically mammalian: the specialized teeth, the shape of the extremity bones and even the presence of a pelt.

The University of Tuebingen possesses one of the most important and one of the largest collections of Therapsids, most found in Tanzania and Brazil, together with other contemporaries.

Also in the Therapsid Hall, the extremity bones of large herbivorous dinosaurs of the Jurassic.
