EDGAR – Engagement in digital game-based learning

Digital game-based learning denotes the acquisition or the improvement of an ability through playing digital learning games. The project EDGAR seeks to examine how the design of such games relates to the players’ engagement, that is, how much they are emotionally, cognitively, and behaviourally engaged. Engagement is assessed using questionnaires as well as physiological measures. Additionally, the project aims to examine whether a learning game aiming to improve executive functions (e.g., working memory, inhibition, flexibility) indeed improves these.

This project is conducted in cooperation with mit Dr. Manuel Ninaus (Leibniz Institut für Wissensmedien (IWM) andnd Prof. Dr. Jan Plass (New York University, Steinhardt School of Education).
