Poduri Project

The focus of this research project is the technological study of Cucuteni pottery. The specific goals are to identify and interpret technological variability with the help of macroscopic analysis of Late Neolithic and Chalcolithic pottery collections, and the archaeometric analysis of pottery samples. The archaeometric analysis of several pottery samples are carried out using the non-destructive and destructive analytical methods available at the CCA-BW in order to establish the mineral composition of certain fabric groups, to identify their provenance and obtain information about the production activities. The main focus will be to investigate the technological choices made by the potters with regards different aspects of the manufacturing process.
