Poster printer

Two Canon Pro-4000S poster printers are available at the Computer Science Department for printing posters.

Locations:

Sand 14: 1st floor, printer room C204
Maria-von-Linden-Str. 6: 2nd floor, room 20-30/A2

The Canon poster printers are equipped with two paper rolls each (high quality photo paper, 260g, usually 1 x glossy, 1 x matte). The paper width is 914mm (A0+). The desired roll can be selected at the printer or during the print job. The paper is automatically changed and provided by the printer.
The printing ink used is UV resistant.

Printing:

  1. Printing from USB stick: Printing can be done directly from a USB stick. The USB port is located on the left below the control panel. The printout is controlled via the control panel. Please pay attention to the "Notes on print preparation" (see below).
  2. Printing via the network:
Two Windows print servers are available. Here, the printout can be made via the application software (e.g. Acrobat Reader DC, Acrobat 2017, etc.) and the desired print setting can be set up in the print dialog.
For both print servers, the login is done with the university account. After login the Uni-Home directory is available.
    • Printing via the print server of the Cognitive Systems Lab: RDP connection to 134.2.178.12 (prior registration via posterspam prevention@cs.uni-tuebingen.de may be necessary).
    • Printing via the print server of the department: RDP connection to 134.2.178.27 (without registration)

Notes on print preparation:

The print file must be available as PDF. All fonts used must be included.
By default, a poster is automatically scaled and, if necessary, rotated so that the full paper width is used.
If you want to print in a smaller format (e.g. A0), the print file must be the correct size. When printing, care must be taken to deactivate autoscaling ("Fit Paper" -> OFF) .

Material consumption, problems etc.:
The printers are integrated into our internal monitoring, so that the operation as well as the material consumption of ink and paper is monitored. For this reason, we ask that you do not turn off the printers.
In case of printing problems or further questions please send a message to posterspam prevention@cs.uni-tuebingen.de.
