Introduction to the M.A. in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Tübingen

Dear freshman MA students of Social and Cultural Anthropology,
A warm welcome to you!  We are very happy that you decided to study with us!

We will meet at the beginning of the semester and discuss the specific features, content and structure of the MA programme with you and also allocate tutors. There is a introductory events for all BA and MA first semesters on Monday, November 2nd and Tuesday 3rd, 2020 in our institute and museum at the castle. You will visit the institute in small groups and we will clarify the organizational questions together. You will also be able to talk to the student council and other students. Please register for these introductory events here
Meetingpoint is at the "Fünfeckturm" at the Schloss Hohentübingen. Which is located after the first portal of the castle. Walk up the hill heading the tree in front. The Fünfeckturm is left behind the tree on the left corner of the wall of the castle. Before the second portal.

Due to Covid 19 please wear a mask in all facilities of the University and taka care of the regulations of the University like the distance regulations to other persons. You are also obliged to fill in this form to take part in the event.

Also due to Covid 19 the lectures will take place in a different mode, most of the MA lectures will be partly online, partly in person, some courses will be only online. The exact procedure will also depend on Public situation in November.

A short presentation which will answer some of the organizational questions will be uploaded over the next week HERE.

Entry Requirements

Applicants need to demonstrate that they meet the academic requirements for admission to the MA program. This usually means a holding a BA degree in social and/or cultural anthropology. Students may be expected to take extra courses to obtain any skills lacking from their Bachelor's program. Since all courses are offered in English, applicants must have successfully passed the Cambridge Certificate Test B2.

The program runs for two years. It commences each winter semester.
