Who we are

Oduma Adelio
B.A. English Studies and Philosophy

Oduma was born in Marburg, Hessen. In 2008, he moved to Ibadan, Nigeria, where he attended an international secondary school. After returning to Germany in 2013, he completed his Abitur in Paderborn, NRW. Having been unsuccessful at a career in professional soccer in Toulouse, France, he (yet again) returned to Germany to pursue a degree in English, Philosophy and French at the University of Tübingen. As part of his undergraduate degree, he spent one year studying English Literature at Cambridge University, UK.

Oduma has been working as an academic writing tutor at the Research and Writing Center as well as a Cultural Studies tutor for the English Department since 2018. He joined the Helpdesk team in 2020. In 2021, he started working as a research assistant at the International Center for Ethics in the Sciences and Humanities.

Oduma has developed interests in multiple avenues of the artistic and academic world and even decided to combine those interests in an art magazine (‘Panoptic Magazine’) that he and his friends founded in 2020.

Jessica Müller
B.A. Interdisciplinary American Studies

Jessica was raised in Tübingen. At the age of 18, she worked as an Au Pair just outside of Washington D.C. for almost 2 years. There, she fell in love with the American culture and decided to broaden her knowledge on it by studying English and French at the University of Tübingen. Back in Tübingen, she adopted two adorable cats. After realizing that French was not for her, she switched to studying Interdisciplinary American Studies. Jessica will continue her studies here pursuing an M.A in American Studies. Jessica joined the Helpdesk during the summer semester of 2021.

In her free time, she likes to go for hikes and long walks and has recently picked up swimming again. She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family and, of course, her cats.

Betül Seslikaya
M.A. American Studies

Betül was raised near Biberach, Baden Württemberg. She grew up speaking German and Turkish and soon developed an interest in English and other languages. After her Abitur, she briefly tried her luck with computer science, but realized that she was much more interested in literary and cultural studies — which brought her to Tübingen.

In 2019, she received her B.A. in English and American Studies with a Korean Studies minor. Currently, she is pursuing an M.A. in American Studies, where she is in her fourth semester. Betül joined the Helpdesk team during the summer semester of 2020; she is in charge of the support of our international students in particular.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, writing, watching TV shows, playing video games, discovering new music, and spending time with friends and family.

Desiree Wegenast
M.Ed. English/American Studies and Political Science

Desiree was raised in Riedlingen, Baden-Württemberg and has always had an interest in literature, languages, cultures, and politics. After living abroad in Michigan during her high school years, she moved to Tübingen to enroll in the B.Ed. English and Political Science. She completed her Bachelor of Education in the summer of 2019 and proceeded to work as a Foreign Language Assistant at King’s College School, Wimbledon during the 2019/2020 academic year. This made her an expert for the ‘Schulpraxissemester Abroad’.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, films and TV, debates about current affairs and spending time outside.
