Video explanations

Reinforced by the Covid-19 pandemic, teachers are increasingly turning to existing video explanations to support their instructions or create video explanations for teaching themselves. Whether these videos are effective for students' learning depends (among other factors) on the quality of the instructional explanation. Based on concepts and theories for instructional explanations (in economic and business education) and multimedia research, a framework for high-quality video explanations for economic education will be created and investigated in the research project. The framework will be developed with videos produced by preservice economics teachers. In the long run, the framework can be used to evaluate existing videos with regard to their quality and to check whether (future) teachers can be supported in developing high-quality videos.
