Franziska Krauße-Wang


Franziska Krauße-Wang studied Chinese and German Literature at the University of Leipzig, the University of Tübingen and the Furen University in Taiwan. After her studies she taught German as DAAD language assistant at the Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, China. She completed a certificate as intercultural trainer at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena and is especially interested in the role of intercultural competence when learning and teaching in another (academic) culture. Prior to the IES program, she worked in DAAD programs promoting the integration of international students at the University of Tübingen.

Jan Battke

Academic Coordinator, Lecturer

Jan Battke is the academic coordinator of the International and European Studies (IES) program at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. He studied political science and sociology in Tübingen and at the University of Washington in Seattle, USA. He earned his MA from the University of Tübingen, worked as a post-graduate researcher at the Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS) at Humboldt University, Berlin, and was a visiting scholar at Duke University, USA, and at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, USA. His main area of interest is the European Union and its decision-making process, with a focus on interest group politics, patterns of political participation and the role of the regions.

Janina Ehret

Program Assistant

Janina Ehret completed her professional education at Technical University of Darmstadt, where she worked in the administration for several years. In the IES program she is mainly responsible for the application process and the finances. In her free time she enjoys reading, travelling (favorite place so far was Bali) as well as spending time outdoors with her dog.

Martina Thillmann

Program Assistant

Martina Thillmann studied business administration at the Academy for Fashion Management, LDT Nagold. After several years in leading positions in the Fashion Business she worked as assistant in the administration of the LDT Nagold. Her special interest lies in the organization of exchange programs with foreign universities.
In the IES Program she is responsible for the application process and for organizational support within the program.

Miriam Keppner

Program Manager

Miriam Keppner is a Program Manager in the IES program, being particularly responsible for the Buddy Program and the Social Media accounts. She did her B.A. in French and Political Science at the University of Regensburg and the Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour in France. After her B.A. she did her Masters in "Democracy and Governance in Europe" at the University of Tübingen and the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. Besides being part of the IES team, Miriam is a doctoral candidate at the Institute of Political Science. Her main research interests are the European Union, global environmental politics and the role of cities in international politics.

Sarah Heuberger

Program Manager

Sarah Heuberger studied Educational Science and English and Spanish Philology at the University of Tübingen and the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador. Her special interest is the intercultural and intersectional exchange to strengthen communication and understanding. She built an educational center for women in an indigenous community in Ecuador and worked at the Goethe Institut in Buenos Aires, Argentina, promoting german language and culture and the intercultural exchange. Currently, she is also working with adolescents in prevention and health strengthening projects at schools. Sarah Heuberger replaces Marlene Hofmann during her annual leave, being now responsible for the alumni program, the Social Media accounts and the marketing of the IES program.

Marlene Hofmann (Sabbatical)

Program Manager

Marlene Hofmann is a Program Manager in the IES Program. She is mainly in charge of the alumni program and the Social Media accounts as well as the extension of corporate contacts. Having completed her B.A. and M.A. in Cultural Anthropology in Tübingen she already spent several years working at the University. Currently, she is also responsible for the international affairs of the Faculty of Humanities in Tübingen, where she holds her second occupation.
