Buddy Program and StudIT

Our Buddy Program for Exchange Students and the Student Initiative International Tübingen (StudIT) support you in navigating Tübingen University, familiarizing yourself with the city and its surroundings, and finding new friends. Additional special programs for internationals like Tandem (language partner program), the International Coffee Hour as well as various other social activities offer also great opportunities. Exchange students can expect an enriching experience filled with fun interactions with international and German peers!

Buddy Program for Exchange Students

A foreign city, a new language or culture and unfamiliar administrative tasks are just some of the typical challenges for new exchange students. As support, we offer the Buddy Program: You will be assigned a Tübingen student as a buddy. Your buddy will help you to settle in Tübingen and to adjust to the new environment. The buddies also support with information about the university, the city and its many options for students.

What is a buddy partnership?

The Tübingen Buddy will support you during your first time in Tübingen and beyond. Tasks include, for example:

  • Welcome on the day of arrival, if possible
  • Help with check-in at the dormitory
  • Support with administrative steps
  • Joint leisure activities etc.

How do I register for the buddy program as exchange student?

After your admission as an exchange student, you will receive an e-mail from us regarding the Buddy Program with detailed information on how to register.

StudIT

Our 'Student Initiative International Tübingen (StudIT)' consists of German students who live in Tübingen quite a while and are happy to welcome Internationals: Join them for various activities where you can easily meet new people and get to know Tübingen as well as the region. StudIt's offerings are also a great opportunity to meet other German students.

What does StudIT offer?

StudItT's services are diverse, including the following:

  • Regular activities for international students: its Intro-Week at the beginning of the semester (including a City Ralley), field trips to the surrounding area (e.g. to Heidelberg, Hohenzollern Castle), hikes, punting, etc.
  • Monthly regulars' table in Tübingen with German and international students
  • Peer-to-peer counseling in the StudIT office hours and via e-mail in case of problems
