CeGaT closes test stations

Circular to all employees and students (except medicine)

The company CeGaT has operated two public test stations on the university campus since mid-April, conducting Corona rapid tests and issuing day tickets as part of the Tübingen model. The company has now informed the university that it will close those test stations this week that exclusively offer rapid tests. This also affects the two test stations on the Morgenstelle campus and in the Clubhaus building on Wilhelmstraße. Both stations will be open for the last time on July 9.

All facilities of the University of Tübingen can currently be entered without showing a negative test result. Attendance at class (except in a few cases that have been separately regulated with the President’s Office) does currently not require a negative test result either. Employees and students who wish to be tested for Covid-19 by medical professionals and require a day ticket still have the option of having a rapid test at several stations in Tübingen. Employees continue to receive self-tests

The University will continue to provide up to two self-tests per week to employees who currently work on-site in university buildings. These tests are also designed to detect a Covid-19 infection and can be carried out at the workplace or at home. Central administration has since provided self-tests to all university facilities. Additional test kits can be requested by the facilities through the purchasing section’s central university storehouse. Employees who wish to use the self-tests should contact their supervisors.

If you have the self-test at home, the test kits can be disposed of (well packed and largely free of liquids) via the residual waste. In numerous university buildings special collection containers for Covid-19 tests have been set up in the meanwhile. If you have a self-test at the University, I ask that you dispose of the test kits via these collection bins. Please dispose of the packaging via the „yellow bag“.

I ask employees who test positive in a self-test to inform their supervisors immediately and have a PCR test. The PCR test is used to verify the initial test result and is essential to reliably detect infection with Covid-19. According to the DRK, PCR tests are currently performed in Tübingen by general practitioners' practices, corona focus practices and fever outpatient clinics (Fieberambulanzen) as well as the test center of CeGaT company in Paul-Ehrlich-Strasse 23.

Go home after the PCR test and wait for the result. Until the result is available and following a possible positive result, you should work from home as far as possible and when you have not symptoms. If this is not possible due to the nature of your tasks, you will be exempt from work. All persons who also test positive in the PCR test will be contacted by the local public health department. In addition, if you develop symptoms of illness, please contact your doctor by phone and get a sick note. In the event of a quarantine order/sick note, please also inform Human Resources via your supervisors.
