Julia Wewior is a researcher and lecturer in the field of American literary studies at Bergische Universität Wuppertal. In her dissertation, she analyzes narrative representations of precarity and (un) drivability ('ungrievability,' Judith Butler) in the works of Haitian-American writer Edwidge Danticat and the Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.
The focus of her lecture "Precarious Lives and Feminist Storytelling" at the Center for Gender and Diversity Research will focus on Adichie's short story "A Private Experience", which recounts the vulnerable-solidary encounter of two women in the midst of violent (male) ethnic riots.
