der inzwischen 4. KI-Fachtag wird am Freitag, 10. Juli 2026 von ca. 10:00 – 16:30 Uhr am IWM, Schleichstraße 6, 72076 Tübingen stattfinden. Die Veranstaltung wird gemeinsam von ZSL Regionalstelle Tübingen, IWM, TüCeDE, KI Makerspace und dem Regierungspräsidium Tübingen organisiert. Sie richtet sich insbesondere an Fachberater:innen und Mitarbeitende der Seminare für die Aus- und Fortbildung von Lehrkräften. Gestaltet wird das Programm auch in diesem Jahr zum einen von Wissenschaftler:innen aus dem Bereich des Unterrichtens mit und über künstliche Intelligenz und zum anderen von Expert:innen aus der schulischen Praxis. 

Für den als Programmpunkt fest etablierten einstündigen Markt der Möglichkeiten sind wir wieder auf der Suche nach Projekten, die für die aktuellen Themen des KI-Fachtags interessant und relevant sind, und anhand von Postern und/oder Demos präsentiert werden können. 

Thematische Schwerpunkte sind in diesem Jahr:

• Förderung von Basiskompetenzen durch KI-Einsatz
• KI-Einsatz im Bereich adaptiver Lernsysteme
• KI-Nutzung und mögliche Auswirkungen auf die Gesundheit, besonders auch bei Jugendlichen

Der Austausch am Markt der Möglichkeiten bietet die Chance, wertvolle Kontakte mit Expert:innen aus der Schulpraxis zu knüpfen und die eigenen Projekte mit diesen zu diskutieren. Der Markt der Möglichkeiten ist zwischen 12:30 und 14:00 Uhr geplant. Alle Beitragenden sind zudem herzlich eingeladen, am gesamten Programm teilzunehmen und so den Austausch noch zu vertiefen.

Adaptive Learning Systems for Greater Educational Equity

At the heart of the project is the development of the chair into a transdisciplinary hub for adaptive learning. The goal is to research evidence-based adaptive learning systems and translate them into school practice — systems that provide individualised support and offer all students fair educational opportunities regardless of their background. Artificial intelligence, particularly in the form of large language models (LLMs), is considered a promising tool in this context. However, a systematic, scientifically grounded integration of these technologies into everyday school life is still lacking — and this is precisely where the project intervenes.

Transdisciplinary Collaboration at the Core

The funding enables a targeted combination of expertise from machine learning, data science, and AI with insights from educational science and practice. Drawing on big data from real educational contexts, the project aims to generate robust and generalisable findings. In close collaboration with local and international partners, an interface between educational research, subject-specific didactics, and AI development will be established. A central feature of the approach is its co-constructive process: teachers, students, and school administrators are actively involved in shaping the systems to ensure practical, effective, and scalable solutions.

The funding strengthens the international visibility of the chair and lays a solid foundation for the development of AI-supported personalised education at the TüCeDE.

We warmly congratulate Andreas on this outstanding recognition and are very proud to have him on our team. The successful acquisition of this prestigious grant is an impressive testament to his academic excellence and his commitment to forward-looking educational research. We look forward to the exciting insights and impulses this project will generate for educational practice and beyond.

This idea was already taken up in the keynote speech by Jacqueline Bellon (IZEW). Using the example of artificial intelligence, she showed why close cooperation between the fields of technology, ethics, and education is crucial for shaping technical innovation in a responsible and effective way. This impetus led directly into the workshop program, in which Caroline Schmidt (AI Makerspace Tübingen), Stefan Kohlmeier (SAP), and Florian Hofmann (University of Erlangen–Nuremberg) worked with participants on how communication can be designed as a connecting bridge between technical and educational perspectives.

This interdisciplinary focus continued in the afternoon: the Technology and Education Fair offered insights into ongoing research and development projects and provided an opportunity for spontaneous, practical exchange. The subsequent panel discussion followed on from this and focused on a key question: what skills will a technology-supported school of the future need? Representatives from school (Nina Klett), computer science education (Barbara Pampel), educational psychology (Benjamin Nagengast), and computational neuroscience (Matthias Bethge) examined this question from different professional perspectives and made it clear how closely pedagogical, technical, and scientific expertise must work together.

Digital Education Day clearly demonstrated the potential that lies in dialogue between disciplines, especially when working together to integrate technologies into educational contexts in a meaningful and effective way. The organizers would like to express their sincere thanks to all participants for their enthusiastic involvement, stimulating discussions, and numerous ideas.

The position is part of the project VOILA – Voice Operated Intelligent Learning Assistant for Gifted Children, funded by the Hector AI + Education Future Fund. The project aims to develop an evidence-based, voice-controlled, open-source AI tutor for gifted primary school students. Its goal is to enable early and continuous individualized learning support, fostering curiosity, problem-solving skills, and long-term competence development. The project bridges educational research and modern AI technologies, initially focusing on Hector core courses in mathematics (proofs, number theory) and biology (evolution).

This year's Digital Education Day will take place on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the IWM at Schleichstraße 6, Tübingen, as a joint event organized by the Tübingen Center for Digital Education (TüCeDE) together with the Tübingen School of Education (TüSE), LEAD Graduate School & Research Network, and the Leibniz Institute for Knowledge Media (IWM).

Under the motto "Bridging Technology and Education," the day will offer an exciting and varied program, including a keynote speech by Jacqueline Bellon (IZEW), workshops with Caroline Schmidt (BWKI), Stefan Kohlmeier (SAP), and Michaela Gläser-Zikuda (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg), and an Oxford-style debate with representatives from schools, IT research, and educational science.

With contributions from TüCeDE and in exchange with international colleagues, current educational topics were intensively discussed and further developed. We are delighted to be able to actively shape education and the future together in this way!

The current publication "Adaptive teaching with technology enhances lasting learning" by Leonie Sibley et al., which has now been published in the journal Learning and Instruction, addresses this research gap. In a field study with 656 pupils at six German schools, the effects of technology-supported adaptive teaching in various subjects were examined.

The study results indicate that adaptive teaching leads to significantly more sustainable learning success compared to regular teaching. These effects were particularly evident in language lessons. According to the results, adaptive teaching with digital tools not only appears to be effective, but also suitable for everyday use and scalable - across subject boundaries.

The study is part of the DiA:Net project funded by the Vector Foundation and the Robert Bosch Stiftung, in which teachers develop adaptive, technology-supported teaching units in co-design with scientists. All units are published as freely available OER materials

From November 2024 to April 2025, we collaborated with ZSL to conduct a four-part training series for teachers: “Dealing with heterogeneity through adaptive teaching with digital media.”

The focus was on two objectives: Firstly, participants gained insights into the results of our DiA:GO and DiA:Net projects and developed their own adaptive teaching units. Secondly, the series offered plenty of opportunity for teachers to exchange ideas and network.

The participants' keen interest and active involvement made the training course a particular success.

TüCeDE contributed its expertise in digital education research and, with several interdisciplinary symposia and contributions, provided an important impetus for the question of how digital media can be meaningfully integrated into teaching and learning processes.

Under the motto “Innovation meets Education”, a keynote speech by Andreas Lachner and Wieland Brendel was followed by short impulses in the form of pitches from science and educational practice as the focus of the conference. It became clear how varied and wide-ranging the research projects of the Tübingen institutes are on the topic of digital education.

After the keynote speeches, the event offered space for in-depth discussions in an informal setting. This exchange not only served the purpose of networking, but also the creation of synergies between the participants.

Our goal of bringing together stakeholders from different disciplines and creating a platform for interdisciplinary dialog was fully achieved thanks to the active participation of numerous participants. The committed contributions and open exchange made the second Digital Education Day a success.

The discussion focused on the question of how digital forms of communication affect the democratic culture of debate and how schools and teacher training can respond to these challenges. Key topics included the influence of algorithms and filter bubbles, how to deal with fake news and the impact of digital conflicts on everyday school life.

Interdisciplinary approach and transfer

The event reflected TüCeDE's aim of combining interdisciplinary research and practice. Experts from the fields of ethics, educational science, school practice and civil society organizations contributed their perspectives and offered multi-perspective insights into the topic. The event offered a lively discussion in which the audience was also actively involved.

As part of the Science and Innovation Days, this event underlined the central role of TüCeDE in shaping transfer processes between science, schools and civil society. The fishbowl discussion also demonstrated how an interdisciplinary center like TüCeDE contributes to addressing current societal challenges and transferring scientifically sound solutions to educational contexts and society.

Nach dem überaus erfolgreichen Auftakt unseres ersten KI-Fachtags im Jahr 2023 planen wir, die Diskussionen und inhaltliche Auseinandersetzung bei einem zweiten KI-Fachtag im Sommer 2024 weiter zu vertiefen. Der erste Fachtag hat gezeigt, dass ein breites Interesse an den aktuellen Entwicklungen im Bereich der KI und dem Austausch mit den Fachberater*innen am ZSL besteht, und wir sind fest entschlossen, diese Dynamik aufzugreifen und zu fördern. Dafür sind wir wieder auf der Suche nach Projekten in Tübingen, die für die Postermesse beim KI-Fachtag, interessant und relevant sind!

Die Veranstaltung wird gemeinsam von ZSL Regionalstelle Tübingen, IWM, TüCeDE, KI Makerspace und dem Regierungspräsidium Tübingen organisiert.

Worum geht es?

Ziel: In einer sich rasch wandelnden digitalen Welt ist es unerlässlich, dass Schülerinnen und Schüler KI nicht nur verstehen, sondern auch effektiv damit arbeiten können. Im Rahmen des 2. KI-Fachtages möchten wir uns intensiv mit den Chancen und Herausforderungen des Lehrens und Lernens über und mit KI auseinandersetzen. Der Fokus liegt hierbei auf dem Wandel der Lehr- und Lernprozesse im Zeitalter der KI.

Für wen? Der KI Fachtag richtet sich in erster Linie an Fachberater*innen in der Unterrichtsentwicklung und Lehrerfortbildung am ZSL Regionalstelle Tübingen, die Fachberater*innen in der Schulaufsicht am Regierungspräsidium Tübingen sowie an die Seminarlehrkräfte am Seminar für Lehrerbildung. Insgesamt werden ca. 60-80 Personen teilnehmen.

Der KI-Fachtag wird am Freitag, 21. Juni 2024 von ca. 10 – 17:00 Uhr am IWM, Schleichstraße 6, 72074 Tübingen stattfindet.

We would like to invite you to our workshop "Welcome to the Future Innovation Hub - Insights into Technologies of the Future in STEM Teaching". This is an event in the framework of the Future Innovation Hub in the BMBF-funded project "MINT-ProNeD" (Professional networks for the promotion of adaptive, process-related, digitally-supported innovations in STEM teacher education).  

  When: Monday, 24.07.2023, from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. 

  Where: Leibniz Institute for Knowledge Media (IWM), Schleichstr. 6, 72076 Tübingen, Germany. 

In the Future Innovation Hub, the IWM, together with the AI Makerspace of the University of Tübingen, the TU Kaiserslautern and the LMU Munich, is developing scenarios for future STEM teaching with digital technologies - with the participation of teachers and subject didacticians. 

This is precisely why this first workshop is aimed at you as interested teachers and subject didacticians in the STEM field who would like to get to know different technologies (e.g. AI, VR, multi-touch tables) and then think about prototypical teaching scenarios together with us. You can find the preliminary programme of the workshop as an attachment. 

The long-term goal of the project is to develop innovative digitally-supported teaching concepts that promote learning, to elicit their opportunities and risks for STEM teaching, and to reflect on social and ethical implications in the process

In close cooperation with the TU Munich and the DIPF, TüCeDE is responsible for the preparation and communication of research results for practical use, thus expanding previous Clearing House activities. In addition, other TüCeDE members are involved in the focus area Competence Centers.
