New professorship at the Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning”
Robert Bamler was appointed as Professor for "Data Science and Machine Learning" on November 01, 2020.
Prof. Dr. Robert Bamler was appointed as Professor for "Data Science and Machine Learning" at the University of Tübingen, Faculty of Science on November 01, 2020. The W2 professorship has been set up within the framework of our Cluster of Excellence "Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science" and the BMBF Competence Center for Machine Learning “Tübingen AI Center”.
Robert Bamler develops statistical machine learning methods to advance research in the sciences and humanities. Furthermore, he focuses on the development of new methods for data compression and decentralized learning on blockchains. Before he accepted the professorship in Tübingen, he was as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California in Irvine.
