Jan-Noël Thon’s research interests include film studies, comics studies, game studies, visual culture studies, transmedial narratology, post/documentary media forms, digital and convergent media culture.
Jan-Noël Thon studied German literature, British literature, and media studies at the University of Hamburg. From April 2008 to March 2012, he was a lecturer in literature and media studies at the University of Hamburg. From January 2009 to December 2011, he received a PhD scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation for a project on transmedial narratology and contemporary media culture. From September 2010 to September 2011, he was a research associate at the Research Unit “Media Convergence” of the Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. From January 2012 to August 2017, he was a research associate at the Department of Media Studies of the University of Tuebingen. Since September 2017, he is Assistant Professor in Media Studies and Digital Media Culture at the Department of Culture, Film and Media of the University of Nottingham, UK.
