First prizes at the International Educational Games Contest
Katerina Tsarava and Luzia Leifheit were awarded for their board game "Crabs and Turtles"
The board game "Crabs and Turtles: A Series of Computational Adventures", won the first prize at the 6th International Educational Games Contest at the European Conference for Games Based Learning on 4th and 5th of October 2018, in Sophia-Antipolis, France.
The board game has been developed by Katerina Tsarava (Leibniz-Institut für Wissensmedien) and Luzia Leifheit (LEAD) for the course "Training Computational Thinking" of the "Hector Children's Academies". Its aim is to foster computational thinking skills in primary school students, as for example algorithmic thinking, abstraction or pattern regonition.
Luzia Leifheit and Katerina Tsarava won the first prize in the category of non-digital games and the first prize at the finals, sharing the overall first prize with a VR game. For the first time in the six years of the contest, the overall winner was a non-digital game. Congratulations!
