Doctoral Days Online 2022 - the event organized by the Graduate Academy in cooperation with the faculties for everyone who is doing a doctorate at the University of Tübingen or is interested in doing one! Take advantage of our varied program to get all of the information you need during or before starting your doctorate! Take the chance to brush up on your knowledge and learn about new things in a concise way!

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Please register individually for each event at the Doctoral Days that you would like to attend. This is the only way we can send you the respective Zoom link. Each event in the programme overview below has its own registration link, which you will find in the box for the event. We can only send the access data to people who have registered for the respective event via this link.
Registration
Registration for the Doctoral Days is via Eventbrite this year. Please make sure to register for all of the events you are planning to attend since zoom links will be sent out separately for each event. They will be sent out automatically a couple of days before the event.
Please note:
- you do NOT have to create an account on Eventbrite to register. Follow the links below, then click on the green button "Registrieren". You will then be asked to enter your contact details. We need these to send you the zoom link.
- the registration process is structured like a checkout process on Eventbrite. However, the Doctoral Days are, of course, free of charge! That's why the total amount will be shown as 0€ and you will receive an email confirming that you have "tickets" - this is your confirmation that you have registered successfully.

Limited time contracts, low salary, high stress levels: The mental health status of PhD students has been considered an “elephant in the room” for a long time.
But how exactly is the situation for PhD students in Tübingen? To better understand this, the PhD initiative sustainAbility conducted a survey among more than 500 PhD students from various disciplines.
In this workshop we will provide a first glimpse at the results we obtained. We assessed 1) how the situation is, 2) what the main stressors are and 3) what can be done to improve the situation of the young scientists.

Ergänzend zu wissenschaftlichen Publikationen stellen Patente eine weitere wichtige Quelle für detaillierte technische Informationen in allen naturwissenschaftlich-technischen Bereichen dar. Für den Laien sind Patente aufgrund ihrer häufig sehr formalistischen Sprache allerdings nur schwer zu verstehen und die Möglichkeiten der (kostenfreien) Patentrecherche sind nur wenig bekannt.
In dem Seminar werden die TeilnehmerInnen unter professioneller Anleitung die Suche nach Patenten am eigenen PC erlernen. In einem weiteren Schritt wird aufgezeigt, wie aus den Patentschriften relevante Informationen effizient ausgelesen werden können. Die praktische Suche wird durch kurze Vortragseinheiten ergänzt. Der Umgang mit Erfindungen an der Universität, das Patentierungsverfahren und Berufe im Patentumfeld werden hier zur Sprache kommen.
