Certificate Entrepreneurship & Business

Core areas

For demanding activities in companies, non-profit organizations, in administration or when founding a company, basic business knowledge is very useful in all sectors. Equally important, however, is an overview of project management, staff management and legal issues. In almost all professional contexts, those who can develop their own ideas, design innovations and implement them successfully will also benefit. In short: Entrepreneurial thinking and action is in high demand!

With the Certificate Entrepreneurship & Business, TRACS and the Startup Center of the University of Tübingen will offer you the opportunity to acquire these skills - accompanying your Bachelor's degree - in the area of interdisciplinary skills and to effectively demonstrate them with a certificate starting in the summer semester of 2022.

All courses eligible for credit are offered in the Transdisciplinary Course Program (TCP). In the course descriptions in ALMA, in our printed course program and on the  Homepage of the Startup Center, you will find information on which courses are offered each semester.

Courses offered

A minimum of 15 credit points (CP) must be earned to obtain the certificate Entrepreneurship & Business. At least 6 of these must be earned in the obligatory area and a further 9 in the elective area. As the courses in the obligatory area provide an overview, it is recommended - but not essential - to take these first.

1. Obligatory area (obligatory, min. 6 CP):

In two obligatory courses, you will acquire basic knowledge of applied business administration and learn the most important "entrepreneurial skills":

  • Economic Basics
  • Entrepreneurship Essentials

2. Elective area (at least 9 CP):

In the elective courses, you can expand and deepen the knowledge you have acquired in the obligatory area. Here you choose at least four courses from at least two of the following subject areas:

  • Project management/human resources
  • Legal aspects of founding and managing a company
  • Developing and implementing innovations
  • Economic thinking and action

The course descriptions in ALMA, the printed course program of the TCP and the homepage of the Startup Center show which courses are offered in which areas each semester.
