Buddy program to support students with a disability or (chronic) illness
The Student Counseling Service (ZSB) offers a buddy program for students with a disability or chronic illness. Within the framework of the buddy program, student assistants of the ZSB support affected students or prospective students in finding their way around the university and in everyday study life.
Examples for support and assistance during your studies:
- Getting to know the campus, on-site inspections
- Assistance with reporting barriers (recording on photos, documenting with place and date, reporting back to the appropriate office, clarification of responsible offices)
- University Library: guidance and orientation, finding literature, printing documents
- Clarify questions about Alma
- Support with study organization, e.g.
- Composing e-mails to lecturers
- Registering for courses
- Registering and deregistering for exams
- Support with organisational and administrative matters
- Creation of specific text files or mp3 files
- Support in the preparation of visual documents, e.g. diagrams for presentations or term papers
- Copying of documents
- Scanning of documents (possibly with the help of OCR text recognition software)
- ...
- Connecting with other students, helping to find study tandems, initiating study group meetings, getting started with contacts
- Finding out about student groups
- Orientation and support in the mensa / cafeteria
- Arriving on-site after an extended period of time away from the university
- Finding out about university sports offers
- Clarification of responsibilities, support in finding suitable counseling services and contact points
- Assistance during written exams (e.g. in case of hand mobility problems, eye problems, multiple sclerosis, tendovaginitis)
- Reading texts aloud (e.g. in case of eye problems)
