For enrolment, it is necessary that the student has health insurance. For this purpose you must present a corresponding certificate from your health insurance company. If you are insured with a private health insurance company, you must prove this by presenting a permanent exemption certificate from a statutory health insurance company (e.g. AOK) when you register.
Foreigners who have health insurance in an EU country outside Germany must also submit a permanent exemption certificate from a statutory health insurance company (e.g. AOK) when registering.
The statutory health insurance companies will then be automatically informed by the Registrar's Office about your enrolment and later about your de-registration. Therefore, please inform us of any change in your health insurance.
If you do not pay your health insurance contributions, the University of Tübingen can block your re-registration for the next semester at the request of your health insurance company!
Unfortunately, the Registrar's Office cannot give you any information about the extent to which you are covered by health insurance in case of a leave of absence, second degree, exceeding the standard period of study, etc. Please contact your health insurance company in case of any uncertainties.
