New COVID-19 vaccination offer at the University

Circular from the University Medical Service to all employees and students (except Medicine)

Dear students,
Dear colleagues,

The COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet. Several thousand people are still contracting SARS-CoV-2 every day all over Germany. Even though we are all aware that vaccination does not offer complete protection, it is the most effective weapon we have against the virus. The university medical service has therefore decided to launch a new vaccination campaign this fall to protect against Covid-19.

All university employees can get vaccinated free of charge at the university medical service (Wilhelmstraße 27) starting October 21. In addition to all students and regular employees of the university, visiting researchers, assistant lecturers and scholarship holders are also invited to participate. Vaccinations will take place by appointment on Thursdays beginning at 1 p.m.; the offer stands until December 16. The mRNA vaccine from BioNTech/Pfizer (Comirnaty) will be used. The company medical service offers vaccination in accordance with the current STIKO recommendations and statements by the Paul Ehrlich Institute on the vaccination schedules approved in Germany.

Those who have not previously received a COVID-19 vaccination need two shots with Comirnaty at least 4 weeks apart for complete protection.

Please book your appointment for a COVID-19 vaccination via the following website: https://termin.samedi.de/b/universitatsklinikum-tubingen-institut-fur-arbeitsmedizin-sozialmedizin-und-versorgungsforschung/ (select “COVID-19-Impfung” there).

Please bring the following documents to the vaccination appointment: Your vaccination card, your ID card and the fully completed documents which you will receive with the email confirming your appointment. If you need two vaccination appointments for a complete vaccination protection, the university medical service staff will arrange the appointment for your second vaccination with you on the day of your first vaccination.

We ask for your understanding that the university medical service may have to postpone vaccination appointments in individual cases if too few people have registered for vaccination on a particular day. This is to avoid having to dispose of vaccine unused.

General information on COVID-19 vaccinations can be found on https://www.infektionsschutz.de/coronavirus/schutzimpfung.html and, in relation to the mRNA vaccine used, on https://www.infektionsschutz.de/coronavirus/schutzimpfung/impfstoffe-gegen-covid-19.html#c15449 and https://www.infektionsschutz.de/coronavirus/fragen-und-antworten/alles-zu-den-impfstoffen/impfstofftypen.html#faq4558.

You will receive detailed information on the vaccine used by e-mail with the appointment confirmation.

If you have any specific questions about the COVID-19 vaccination, you are welcome to make an appointment in advance for a consultation at the university medical service by calling 07071 29 87092 or by sending an e-mail to ambulanz.arbeitsmedizinspam prevention@med.uni-tuebingen.de.

With best regards,

Professor Dr. Monika A. Rieger
